How UIDAI protect Aadhar privacy by ‘Virtual ID & Limited KYC’?

Do you really worried about the safety of your sensitive, personal information of Aadhaar data? Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has come up with a solution termed Virtual ID, in an attempt to eliminate possibilities of such data breach and misuse.

623460-144557-aadhar

This significant attempt has been taken out by UIDAI in regards to the safety of the citizens of the country. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced two new features Virtual ID and limited KYC (Know Your Customer) to limit the use of the 12-digit code for strengthening the privacy and security of Aadhaar number holders, which Aadhaar cardholders can generate from its website and use for various purposes, including SIM verification, instead of sharing the actual 12-digit biometric ID.

Vital facts about Aadhaar Virtual IDs

How to create Virtual ID?

  • The Virtual ID will end the need to share user’s Aadhaar number at the time of authentication. The ‘Virtual ID’, which would be a random 16-digit number, together with the biometrics of the user, would give any authorized agency like a mobile company, limited details like name, address, and photograph, which are enough for any verification.
  • The ID can be generated as many time as possible.
  • The older ID gets automatically canceled once a fresh one is generated.
  • Users can go to the UIDAI website to generate their virtual ID which will be valid for a defined period of time, or till the user decides to change it.
  •  This ID will be used to authenticate Aadhaar users through a new authentication method that UIDAI is calling Limited KYC.

How ‘Limited KYC’ acts?

  • The UIDAI has also introduced ‘limited KYC’, under which it will only provide need-based or limited details of a user to an authorized agency that is providing a particular service like telecom operators.
  • Limited KYC will allow agencies to do their own paperless KYC process without access to the Aadhaar number. This will eliminate agencies storing the Aadhaar numbers of users in their databases.
  • The ‘Virtual ID’ will be a temporary and revocable number mapped to a person’s Aadhaar number and the Aadhaar-issuing body will start accepting it from March 1, 2018.

Only users can generate ID

  • As per the UIDAI, agencies that undertake authentication would not be allowed to generate the ‘Virtual ID’ on behalf of the Aadhaar holder.
  • The UIDAI is instructing all agencies using its authentication and eKYC services to ensure Aadhaar holders can provide the ‘Virtual ID’ instead of Aadhaar number within their application.
  • As many as 119 crores biometric identifiers have been issued so far and Aadhaar is required as an identity proof by various government and non-government entities.

For instance, the government has made it mandatory for verifying bank account and PAN to weed out black money and bring unaccounted wealth to book. The same for SIM has been mandated to establish the identity of mobile phone users.

Caution

From June 1, 2018, it will be compulsory for all agencies that undertake authentication to accept the ‘Virtual IDs’ from the users.

Agencies that do not migrate to the new system to offer this additional option to their users by the stipulated deadline will face financial disincentives.

Caution

The official launch of the feature would happen soon, no timeline has been revealed. As of now, Facebook is only testing this feature with a few users. There is no word from the company about when it will be rolled out to all its users.

How New App Locate People in without Phone Signal Areas?

Do you feel safe and secure in your life? or Do you think you are in the safest hand of Advanced Technology?

We are utilizing the advanced technology of Science which aids us to save our time and energy in our busy lifestyle. For instance recently the WhatsApp new features like “Delete for everyone and Share Live location”, solve those issues which happened due to our faults or unawareness.

However, post the invention of the new advanced technologies how much safe and secured you feel at the end of the day when the question arises about your life and death?

mobile-phone-2398300_1920

Can any of these highest inventions in our daily life makes us protect from Disaster? My questions may sound bit unusual but let me define you for your clarity that you are not at all in the safe hand of the Internet.

For instance if your life get stuck in any Disaster or Peril which is completely an uncertainty, and you are craving for rescue and your costly Smartphone is not at all helping you out from that worst situation because of the inconvenience of Internet (Data or Wifi) then exactly at that crucial phase how could you Save your precious life?

Because Smartphone without internet connection is of no use for running its vital Apps, so your Data or Wifi connection plays a vital key role in running your all Apps fastly.

The recent invention by Scientists

Researchers have recently originated a Smartphone app that can be used in the emergency situation arising due to any peril or disaster like during earthquakes, floods or forest fires, where mobile phone infrastructure is often performed useless.

This new technology has made it easy and possible to rescue those victims by locating them who have suffered an accident in remote locations without a phone signal and where a speedy rescue is essential to save lives.

How it will work without a signal?

The inventor of the technology and professor at UA, Jose Angel Berna, narrated that they have designed an application (app) that can be incorporated to any smartphone and that, without a signal, emits a Wifi signal which in turn acts as a distress beacon over a distance of several kilometers.

This signal contains the location (coordinates) of the person who has suffered the accident or disappeared and is using the smartphone emitter, along with a short message that can be altered depending on the situation, with examples such as “I am injured,” “I am disorientated”, “I need help”, “I’m dying” or “Save me”.

In order to detect the distress signal, the researchers have also created a light, portable receptor device that rescue teams or mountain shelters could use.
This device has a small antenna and connects to the smartphone of the search party.
When an accident occurs, the victim only has to activate the mobile phone app, which will, in turn, emit the distress signal periodically, for hours or even days, even if he or she is unconscious, indicating the coordinates of its location.

How does it confirm?

According to Berná, “there have already been tests done on the ground with this innovative system, an operative prototype was developed in early 2016, with the Special Mountain Intervention Rescue Groups (GREIM) of the Guardia Civil and then with the Maritime Service of the Armed Forces and Maritime Rescue, the results of which were interesting.”

So, while the tests performed both on ground and sea it was confirmed finally that the device can pick up the distress signal of the emitting smartphone up to a distance of two or three kilometers, respectively, although it may be possible to increase its reach.

The present status of the World

At present, there is no system in the world that uses Wi-fi signals to geo-locate a smartphone. There are devices that allow you to detect mobile phone signals from a smartphone and pinpoint its location through triangulation, but it costs around €80,000 and requires the use of a helicopter,

However, the new system is more economical, ‘as its receptor has a cost that would allow its commercialization for approximately €600 if used by a large number of rescue teams’.

Advantages

  • This new invention will definitely save the time of the rescue operation team for locating the injured person at the particular point of the accident or disaster happens and where the person will seeking for his rescue means it ‘optimise the search and decrease tracking time’

Studies found that in the case of many deceased people autopsies have revealed that the person didn’t die instantly, as they survived for several hours but it’s really unfortunate that it had been impossible to locate them on time.

  • It does not require visual contact with the victim because as soon as they can detect a single signal, it will tell them its exact location, even if it lies several kilometers away or it is trapped among the rubble of a collapsed building.

Conclusion

Berná explains, “We have sent information to the Ministry of Internal Affairs so they take this new feature that we have developed into account and they study its possible addition to AlertCops, the citizen safety warning service of the State Security Forces”.

According to the researcher, the rescue services believe that the features of this technology should already be integrated within an emergency system and should have institutional backing.

So we can now expect the best helping app, for our life safety very soon.

Why you failed always to book a Tatkal train ticket?

Why you couldn’t get Tatkal Train Ticket but your agent could?

Whether its any festive or New year celebration, you always plan your holidays trip at various destination within the country by Indian Railways rather by choosing to invest in costly air tickets.

Now during online booking of Railway tickets when you fill up your details you get that all the seats under Tatkal quota gets full within minutes of start of the booking and you immediately call up your travel agents and then you have to pay them a sum of somewhere between Rs 500-Rs 5000 as a commission for a confirmed tatkal ticket.

irctc_app_1937641_835x547-m

My first question is have you ever noticed that how the travel agents always manage to reserve a seat under the tatkal category on the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website while you failed even after your hard try?.

Now my second question is, its not like that only during festive season there is a rush for booking tickets while you may notice even during off-seasonal periods the Same reply you used to receive from the agents and when you ask them that why there is always a scarcity of Railway tickets around the whole year then they very smartly skip your query but after you arrive at the particular berth of the compartment, you will notice that many vacant berths are still there for travel.

More surprising used to be the fact that some of the ticket agents were able to book the same confirmed tickets from their end. For this, these agents charged extra money. However, the customers complain bookings are either rejected or they get a wait-listed ticket that too at a very steep price.

Did you ever wonder why such issues? What was the game all about? The answer is very simple because there’s a big Scam running behind it. Let me reveals the bitter truth behind the scene.

Who is behind the SCAM?

Ajay Garg, ex-IRCTC employee and presently working with the CBI, was the kingpin of this entire network for developing an illegal software which he sold to the travel agents who then booked 800 – 1000 tickets at one go. Anil Garg along with numerous other persons has been running this racket for the past one year. Garg had worked with Indian railways since 2007-2011 and understood the vulnerabilities in the website. This helped him loot the Indian Railways and the common people.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday 27th December arrested the techie, Ajay Garg, from Delhi after it was found that he played a big role in a racket that duped the entire Tatkal system.

The CBI official said “It was alleged that Garg had developed an illicit software for duping the Tatkal ticket booking system being run by the IRCTC and conspired with Anil Kumar Gupta. They indulged in distributing the software to private persons for their unauthorized use for a hefty consideration”. Garg was allegedly the brain behind one such illicit software which allowed the ticket agents to book hundreds of Tatkal tickets with a single click of the mouse.

Along with Garg, CBI has also arrested Anil Gupta, who worked on the front while the former remained veiled. CBI has said that Gupta was responsible for developing and distributing the software to agents for a price. Besides Gupta, Garg’s family members are also alleged to be involved in the scam. Garg’s parents, wife, sister, and brother-in-law are believed to be instrumental in making collections from travel agents using his software.

How Garg learned those frailties?

The thirty-five-year-old Ajay Garg had joined the CBI in 2012 through a selection process and has been working as an assistant programmer. Earlier, he had served with IRCTC, which handles ticketing system of the railways, between 2007 and 2011. The CBI probe has found that Garg learned the vulnerabilities of the IRCTC ticketing software during his tenure there, which he exploited in his software.

How agents charged extra money?

After failing to book tatkal tickets, passengers would go to the travel agents to secure a berth in the trains departing the next day. Under Tatkal Booking system, a premium quota for the tickets opened at 10 am for AC class and 11 AM for non-AC coaches for the trains departing next day. Under the scheme, a fixed number of seats, in each coach, are sold at a premium by the railways to travelers who need tickets urgently.

The travel agents would approach Garg who would book the required number of berth through the fake website. The travel agent would then charge the passengers somewhere between Rs 500-Rs 5000. Even some travel agents offer to provide confirmed tickets under the quota by charging a premium, over and above railways prices.

How they collect the payment?

Well, it’s another surprising that Garg collected the money in the form of bitcoins and through hawala channels to avoid scrutiny.

Through the software, Garg was allegedly able to keep the statements of tickets booked by the agents and charged them on per ticket basis, in addition to the cost of the software.

The recovered treasures after searching

The CBI has carried out searches at 14 locations in Delhi, Mumbai and Jaunpur during which it recovered Rs 89.42 lakh in cash, gold jewellery valued at Rs 61.29 lakh which include two gold bars of one kilogram each, 15 laptops, 15 hard discs, 52 mobile phones, 24 SIM cards, 10 notebooks, six routers, four dongles and 19 pen drives. The security agency has also arrested 10 agents, seven from Jaunpur and three from Mumbai in this connection so far.

The Indian railways already have an ongoing drive against ticket-less travelers and such illegal ticket booking, which creates artificial shortages of tickets.
“Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal has now further ordered to continue this drive and identify similar cases which are causing inconvenience to genuine passengers”.

So hope the coming year will really bring a relief for online booking of Tatkal Railway ticket.

Why WhatsApp will stop working on BlackBerry OS, Windows Phone 8.0 after Dec 31, 2017?

With the end of this year (December 31), 2017 WhatsApp gives the shocking news of ending its service for several smartphone platforms. The Facebook-owned company has confirmed this via its official blog post. So the countdown starts for some mobile platforms when it comes to WhatsApp updates.

whatsapp-770685_1920

The messaging service will end support for operating systems from BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10, Windows Phone 8.0 and older devices, and Nokia S40 will not be able to use WhatsApp properly after December 31, 2017. This means that users using mobile phones running any one of these platforms will not be able to use WhatsApp after this year. WhatsApp says users on these particular platforms will not be able to create new accounts, nor re-verify existing accounts once the company ends support. End of support does not mean a user will lose access to their WhatsApp account. WhatsApp says users can continue using the app on their phone, but should not expect any future security updates or new features.

While Windows 8 will get axed once 2018 starts, WhatsApp will continue support for Windows 8.1 version and higher devices, even though Microsoft itself has admitted that Windows Mobile is dead. In BlackBerry’s case, the company has itself confirmed it will no longer be manufacturing or launching new smartphones, and the BlackBerry 10 and BlackBerry OS have been abandoned. Instead, new BlackBerry-branded phones are now manufactured by China-based TCL and powered by Android OS. So WhatsApp ending support for the BlackBerry platform is not surprising.

The company said “We will no longer actively develop for these platforms, some features may stop functioning at any time,” WhatsApp said. “These platforms don’t offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app’s features in the future. If you use one of these affected mobile devices, we recommend upgrading to a newer OS version, or to a newer Android running OS 4.0+, iPhone running iOS 7+, or Windows Phone 8.1+ so that you can continue using WhatsApp,”

This is not the first time that WhatsApp is ending support for old mobile platforms. In February last year 2016, also the company had announced a list of devices/platforms that it ceased support for. These included Android 2.1 and Android 2.2; Windows Phone 7. The list also had a version of Apple’s mobile operating system iOS, iPhone 3GS/iOS 6. This list also included BlackBerry OS and Nokia S40 platform, the date for these was later changed to June 2017 and then this deadline was further updated to December 31, 2017. This means these platforms have already received extensions twice.

These are the mobile OS that would stop supporting WhatsApp by the end of this year:

— Nokia Symbian S60 after June 30, 2017

— BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10 after December 31, 2017

— Windows Phone 8.0 and older after December 31, 2017

— Nokia S40 after December 31, 2018

— Android versions 2.3.7 and older after February 1, 2020.

How to stop WhatsApp from Auto Downloading on Android, iPhone?

WhatsApp has close to 1.5 billion users globally, with India being among its top markets. WhatsApp has over 200 million users in India alone. In fact, it is probably one of the first apps anyone in India downloads when they get a new smartphone as it has become the default means of texting in the country. Due to the increasing popularity of the chat app has made it compatible with the messaging. SMS sounds old and outdated now.

whatsapp-892926_1920

Besides text conversations, WhatsApp is also a place where people share a ton of photos and videos. Both photos and videos get auto-downloaded on iOS. However, it can become an annoyance too when the chat app automatically downloads all those stupid memes, audio files, videos, and photos. These not only clutter your phone’s gallery and music player but also eat up a lot of storage and data. Here’s how you can stop WhatsApp from automatically saving photos and audio on your phone.

How to Stop Auto Downloading and Saving Pictures, Videos and Other Media on Whatsapp for Android phones:

If you are an Android user, open your WhatsApp, go to Settings>Data and storage usage>Media auto download. Now uncheck all the three boxes under the Media auto download- when using mobile data, when connected to Wifi and when roaming.

Step by step guidance:

  1. Open WhatsApp, make sure you are seeing the main window – where all your chats are displayed. Tap the three vertical dots on the top right > Settings.
  2. Now tap Chat settings > Media auto-download. You’ll see three options: When using cellular data When connected to Wi-Fi and When roaming. Tap each one and disable auto-downloads by unchecking all three options – Images, Audio and Video.

To view photos, you will have to download them. When you do, WhatsApp saves them in a folder, and you can get inundated with stupid memes and other unwanted content, which is visible to anyone who open’s your phone’s Gallery App. However, it is possible to stop these photos from appearing in the Gallery app. Here’s how you can do that:

  1. Download Quickpic and open the app.
  2. Navigate to the WhatsApp media folders. The location of the WhatsApp folder varies across devices but it should typically be the following: Internal Storage (sometimes labelled sdcard0) > WhatsApp > Media > WhatsApp Images, > WhatsApp > Media > WhatsApp Audio, and WhatsApp > Media > WhatsApp Videos.
  3. Long-press the WhatsApp Images folder and make sure that it is selected. Do the same with the WhatsApp Video and WhatsApp Audio folders.
  4. After selecting the three folders, tap the three dots icon on the top-right > Hide. This will ensure that the Gallery app doesn’t show them. You can still view these images and videos within WhatsApp and through any apps that let you view hidden folders. But if you pass your phone to someone, you no longer need to worry about them seeing the WhatsApp photos and videos through the Gallery app.

WhatsApp-Guide-to-restrict-media-auto-download

How to Stop Auto Downloading and Saving Pictures, Videos and Other Media on WhatsApp for iPhone:

iPhone users can also de-clutter their phone from annoying audio file, videos, and photos. Open WhatsApp>Settings>Data and storage usage. Now check the Never box for photos, videos, audio, and documents.

Step by step guidance:

  1. Open WhatsApp and tap the Settings button at the bottom-right, and tap on Data and Storage Usage
  2. In this menu, you will see the Media Auto-Download option on top
  3. For Photos, Audio, Videos, and Documents, select the Never option.

Now only the files you choose to download manually will appear on your phone, and you can even choose to stop the photos and videos from appearing the phone’s Camera Roll. All you need to do is to go to Chats in the Settings menu, open the Save to Camera Roll menu, and turn it to off. This stops the pictures people are sending from showing up in the camera roll and taking over your synced Photo Stream.

Few quick points to save mobile data and phone storage when using the WhatsApp:

  • Stop auto-download of heavy files. Videos are entertaining but hog a lot of space on your phone. You can always set the auto-download for such videos when on WiFi.
  • Allow chat back up but only on WiFi. WhatsApp stores all your text chats and images. While this is an important feature as it allows you to retrieve your photos later from Cloud, backing up on mobile data can eat up your mobile data. So try doing it only on WiFi.
  • WhatsApp has an option where you can view your contacts and how much space each is taking. Go to WhatsApp> Storage and data usage>Storage usage.
  • Now you will see all your recent chats along with the space each is consuming on your phone. Select the chat>Manage messages>Clear messages.

Low data usage for WhatsApp calls:

WhatsApp also has an option to lower the amount of data it uses during WhatsApp voice calls. Open WhatsApp>Settings>Data and storage usage> Low data usage.

Hope the above sharing will definitely help you to save your Smartphone’s storage from mess up by unwanted WhatsApp auto-downloading of videos, images.

Zika Virus – An Emerging Global Threat

What is ZIKA Virus?

The Zika virus, first identified in Uganda in 1947, is transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes, the same type of mosquito that carries dengue fever, yellow fever, and chikungunya virus. A mosquito bites an infected person and then passes those viruses to other people it bites. It was later identified in humans in 1952 in Uganda and the United Republic of Tanzania. The first large outbreak of disease caused by Zika infection was reported from the Island of Yap (Federated States of Micronesia) in 2007.

Zika Virus

How it is transmitted?

Zika virus is primarily transmitted to people through the bite of an infected mosquito from the Aedes genus, mainly Aedes aegypti in tropical regions. Aedes mosquitoes usually bite during the day, peaking during early morning and late afternoon/evening. This is the same mosquito that transmits dengue, chikungunya virus and yellow fever.

Zika can spread through Sexual transmission, usually, after a person traveled to an area where Zika has broken out, got the virus, and gave the virus to a sex partner who did not travel. Infected women and men can both pass the virus to sex partners even if they haven’t shown symptoms of infection, In addition, infected pregnant women can pass the virus on to their fetus. Other modes of transmission such as blood transfusion.

What are the symptoms of ZIKA virus disease?

Most people don’t have any symptoms, only about 1 in 5 people with the virus will exhibit symptoms, If symptoms do occur, they are usually mild and last around 2 to 7 days after a bite from an infected mosquito.

Symptoms of Zika virus infection:

  • rash
  • itching all over the body
  • fever
  • headache
  • joint pain (with possible swelling, mainly in the smaller joints of the hands and feet)
  • muscle pain
  • conjunctivitis (red eyes)
  • lower back pain
  • pain behind the eyes

.A diagnosis of Zika virus infection can only be confirmed through laboratory tests on blood or other body fluids, such as urine, saliva or semen.

What are the Complications of Zika virus disease?

Zika virus infection during pregnancy is a cause of congenital brain abnormalities, including microcephaly and that Zika virus is a trigger of Guillain-Barré syndrome.

What is Microcephaly?

Microcephaly is a condition where a baby’s head is smaller than those of other babies of the same age and sex. Microcephaly happens when there is either a problem in utero, causing the baby’s brain to stop growing properly, or after birth when the head stops growing properly. Children born with microcephaly often have developmental challenges as they grow older. In some cases, children with microcephaly develop entirely normally. Microcephaly can be caused by a variety of environmental and genetic factors such as Down syndrome; exposure to drugs, alcohol or other toxins in the womb and rubella infection during pregnancy.

What is congenital Zika syndrome?

In addition to congenital microcephaly, a range of manifestations has been reported among babies up to 4 weeks old where there has been exposure to Zika virus in utero. 5 types of birth defects, including severe microcephaly, that are unique to Zika or rarely occur with other infections in pregnant women. They are:

  • Decreased brain tissue with calcium deposits indicating brain damage
  • Damage to the back of the eye
  • Limited range of motion in joints, such as clubfoot
  • Too much muscle tone, which restricts movement

Those effects in babies are called congenital Zika syndrome.

Not all children with congenital Zika virus syndrome present with microcephaly. On the other hand, failure to observe signs of congenital Zika virus syndrome, particularly when assessed in utero, does not necessarily mean that the fetus or newborn does not have abnormalities. For example, hearing abnormalities may not be assessed in utero but only after birth. Some signs such as seizures may develop only after birth.

What is the treatment for ZIKA virus symptoms?

There is no specific treatment for Zika virus symptoms. Drinking plenty of water and taking paracetamol may help relieve symptoms. The disease usually runs its course within a week or so. The infected people must take plenty of rest, drink fluids to prevented take acetaminophen for fever and pain,

There is no vaccine against Zika, but the National Institutes of Health is testing one in humans. If symptoms worsen, they should seek medical care and advice.

Who is at risk of being infected?

Where you live, your travel history and the travel history of your sex partner(s) can affect your chances of getting Zika. Anyone who is living in or traveling to an area where Zika virus is found.

Many people infected with Zika won’t have symptoms or will only have mild symptoms. However, a pregnant woman, even one without symptoms, can pass Zika to her developing fetus. Zika infection during pregnancy can cause serious birth defects. Zika virus primarily spreads when a mosquito infected with Zika bites you. Zika also spread through sexual transmission with a man or woman who has Zika. Sex includes vaginal, anal, or oral sex and the sharing of sex toys. Zika can pass through sex even if the person does not have symptoms at the time.

In which countries ZIKA Virus popular?

The number of countries and territories that had reported mosquito-borne Zika virus transmission as of November 16, 2017, by WHO region. As of this time, the total number of countries/territories that had reported mosquito-borne Zika virus transmission had reached 85, of which 49 were in the Americas.

Zika virus disease has reached India, with the World Health Organisation (WHO) confirming first three cases in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare – Government of India (MoHFW) reported three laboratory-confirmed cases of Zika virus disease in Bapunagar area, Ahmedabad District, Gujarat State, in India.

How can ZIKA be prevented?

The best protection from Zika virus is preventing mosquito bites indoors and outdoors, especially from sunrise to sunset when mosquitos are most active.
Such measures include:

  • Use mosquito repellent in accordance with the instructions indicated on the product label.
  • Wearing long-sleeved shirts and long trousers
  • Sleeping or resting in screened or air-conditioned rooms
  • Using mosquito nets

Other measures:

  • Using a condom when staying in an area with active Zika transmission and continuing to do so for at least eight weeks after returning from this area will reduce the risk of sexual transmission. If symptoms were experienced, condoms should be used for six months following the cessation of symptoms.
  • Travellers returning from Zika-affected areas are not allowed to donate blood until the risk of infection has passed, which is 28 days after returning from a Zika-affected area.

How is Zika virus disease diagnosed?

Zika virus infection can be diagnosed using laboratory testing. Healthcare providers may order blood tests to look for Zika if a patient has compatible symptoms with Zika virus disease and has recently traveled in an affected area.

Minerals are inorganic substances which are much required for humans to maintain a healthy life. Some of the essential minerals found in the water are Calcium, Magnesium, and Potassium. So, you should buy an RO water purifier that comes with a TDS Modulator/Controller.

Reverse Osmosis Water Purifier

The RO water purifiers use a very fine membrane to purify the water. Only a Reverse Osmosis water purifier has the capability to remove the dissolved salts present in the water.

TDS …. TDS full form is Total dissolved solids. Minerals, salts or dissolved metals such as calcium, chloride, nitrate, iron, sulfur and some organic matter that dissolved in water commonly referred as TDS. TDS expressed in terms of milligrams (mg) per liter of water, also referred in parts per million (ppm).

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has set the acceptable limit of TDS in drinking water at 500 mg/LMost commonly used purification systems to reduce TDS are carbon filter and reverse osmosis(RO).

What is RO MF?

MF is full form of Microfiltration purification technology. In MF purification the water is passed through a special pore-sized membrane to separate microorganisms. Both reverse osmosis and nanofiltration are fundamentally different since the flow goes against the concentration gradient.

In a recent research found that if MF filtration is used as pre-filtration, before RO purification, the purification results are much effective. Kent released such MF + RO purifiers in the market as well.

How to increase battery life of android phones?

Smartphones now become a significant tool of our life without which we cant imagine a day but many of us face with the battery problem. So, people often ask “How can I extend my battery life?” Most of the smartphones like Android consume much battery as compared to others.

how to increase battery life of android phones

As a result, in conventional condition Android battery dies in about 6-7 hours. Many of us use battery booster app for Android but it doesn’t seem beneficial. So the solution to improve Android battery performance is through manipulations on the software side.

The best tricks to save your battery life long:

Avoid High Temperatures

Heat waves play a huge role in damaging the smartphone battery. Leaving your smartphone exposed to extreme temperature can be damaging to both the device and the battery. So, make sure to avoid high temperatures and if possible remove the back cover of your smartphone while charging.

Avoid Quick Recharges

People always choose to charge their smartphone for 15 minutes just to ensure the device holds enough power to run another 1 hour. Give the full charge for your battery. This will prevent quicker recharges being needed in the day and will also improve the battery life.

Wi-Fi drains far less battery than cellular service

If you want to conserve power, then you should always turn off Location (GPS), Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi and mobile data when you aren’t actively using them.

When you are traveling on long journeys, your mobile will keep changing the base station from which it receives signal, resulting in faster battery drain. If you’re in an area where cell service is patchy, your phone can expend a lot of battery power trying to get the best connection it can. So use it in airplane mode if you are not expecting any calls and want to listen to music for long hours.

Turning on Airplane Mode or turning off your mobile data in favor of an available Wi-Fi network can make all the difference in the world. Only turn on Bluetooth and NFC as long as you need them even though they consume very little power.

If you have the choice between using Wi-Fi or cell signal, always choose Wi-Fi, all other things equal. Wi-Fi drains far less battery than cellular service.

Turn Off vibrations and haptic feedback

Every phone has got a little motor called ‘An eccentric rotating mass vibration motor (ERM) that has an unbalanced load attached to it. The rotation of this load produces vibration. Head over to Settings>>Sound. Turn off haptic feedback too that buzz you get from typing on the keyboard. Switch off vibrate, it actually takes more power to vibrate your phone than it does to ring it.

App killers suck battery rather than conserve it

Never use app killers for managing those unused apps and most of the apps that you kill this way will just spring right back to life. But there’s a new feature that’s been available since Android 4.0, the Recent Apps menu. Although this feature’s primary intent is to make swapping between apps faster, it is also possible to “swipe away” apps. Some myths have cropped up that it’s good practice to pull up the Recent Apps menu and swipe away any apps you aren’t using, effectively killing them.

This just isn’t true. For one, swiping away recent apps doesn’t kill them. It is a good way to get an app to stop misbehaving for example, if a Facebook photo gets stuck uploading, then swiping away the app will tell Facebook to cancel this action, but the apps you see on this list are not actively running in the background. The Recent Apps menu is nothing like the Task Manager on your PC, it’s just a visual catalog to help you navigate your apps easier.

Clear recent apps and use fewer widgets

Exit an app as soon as you are done with it or else it will continue running in the background. Pressing just the back button might not terminate the app. Keep clearing your ‘recents’ panel frequently.

Delete the widgets that are placed to offer information not required throughout the day and still fetch data from the internet such as weather apps, stock apps, scoreboards etc. If you already have a bunch of useless widgets on your device then you just need to do a couple of things and they’ll be gone. Long press on a blank space on your home screen. Now drag the widget you don’t need into the trash bin at the top or bottom of your screen though it depends on the brand.

Set your IFTTT to make your life easier

If the norms of our regular schedule are being managed by some else then it makes our life easier. Only IFTTT can do this. IFTTT is a beautiful service that’s great for non-programmers and first-time automators. The goal of IFTTT is to put the internet to work for you. The letters stand for “IF THIS, THEN THAT”. Once you subscribe to their service on the website and download the Android app “IF,” you can get your phone to do a variety of things without your active intervention.

For instance, you might activate your phone’s “Location” channel. This will let IFTTT respond to your smartphone’s location. Then you might tell IFTTT, “Okay, if I leave home, turn my Wi-Fi off.” And then, likewise, “If I arrive home, turn my Wi-Fi on or to turn on Airplane mode or even do not disturb mode.”It turns your phone into a fully automated, power-managing machine. Once you play around with it for a little bit, you’ll start to find all sorts of things to automate, even beyond the scope of your phone’s battery life.

Don’t Do Heavy Gaming

Heavy games require a lot of resources. So, the best tip is to avoid heavy gaming for long. Running high-end games for longer duration can drain the battery really fast and will also cause your phone to overheat.

Therefore, if you like to play games on your Android device, make sure not to use them for long.

Turn off notifications for apps

You don’t have to let your apps sync all of their data automatically. Choosing to do this manually, or to limit auto sync to the apps that really need it, can seriously reduce power use. Go to Settings>>Notification and there you can view app specific settings for notification. Turn off notification for an app by clicking on it and select ‘Block All.’ This will stop the processor from checking on it from time to time, thereby making your phone battery last longer.

Turn off animations and reduce Background Process

Animations are another factor affecting battery life. Time to get into some behind-the-scenes work here. To make these changes, you’ll need to access the Developer Options menu in your settings. Head over to the Settings app on your Android phone. If you don’t find Developer Settings, then go to Settings>>About phone and tap on ‘Build number’ a few times.

Go back to Settings, and you will find ‘Developer Settings.’ Tap on it and there you will find three options namely ‘Window animation scale,’ ‘Transition animation scale,’ and ‘Animator duration scale.’ Each of these is likely currently set to Animation scale x1. Setting each of these to “Animation off” and you will see a considerable change in performance and improved battery life.

On this same menus, you can scroll further down to find Background Process Limit. By default, this is “Standard limit,” but adjusting it to 3 or 4 processes can slightly increase your battery life and may improve performance as well.

Use lite apps and ad-free apps

Only keep the apps on your phone which you require frequently. Keeping too many apps can slow down your phone and reduce battery life. You can view how much battery an app is using, going to Settings>>Battery. Uninstall the apps which use more battery. Instead, try to use the lite version of that app or use an alternative app. Facebook and Messenger both have Lite apps also Skype available in the Play Store.

In Battery menu, tap in the top-right corner of the window and select Battery Optimization. A “Not Optimized” app will run in the background on its own schedule. Apps that are not required to run at all times should be optimized for better battery life.

Also use apps that don’t use ads, or purchasing premium versions of apps that eschew ads, can drastically change how badly your battery takes a beating. If you use an app frequently, and it’s sucking up your phone’s life juice every day, consider upgrading or finding an ad-free alternative.

Discard auto synchronization

Some apps such as Gmail, Twitter, Reddit constantly refresh themselves to offer the latest information rather than running multiple auto-refreshes throughout the day when you may not need them to.
Turn off auto-syncing for Google accounts. If you don’t need every single Google account updated every 15 minutes, just go to Settings and Google account and turn off auto-sync for those apps you don’t need constantly updated. To turn it off, go to Settings > Accounts. Tap the three vertical dots in the upper right corner and uncheck “Auto-sync data.” You can also manually adjust which apps sync and how frequently.

Android updates are necessary

Don’t ignore app updates because it can help you to avoid bugs and other issues that are related to your smartphone and battery. Keep your apps updated. There’s a reason developer constantly update apps to improve battery and memory optimization. Likewise, delete old apps you no longer use, because these may be running background processes that consume RAM and battery life.

Just go into your Settings and tap Battery. From there hit the menu button three dots at the top right of your screen and go to Battery optimization. From there you can see which apps are optimized and change them. You can only change the non-essential system apps.

Black wallpaper can increase battery

What is a power-friendly wallpaper? That actually depends on what kind of display you have!

There are essentially two kinds of displays currently on the smartphone market. AMOLED works by lighting up individual pixels to create images. LCD works by having a backlight that is overlaid by a screen that shutters and displays the backlight to create pixels which compose images.

If your phone has an AMOLED screen like most Samsung devices, use a dark-colored background. Black wallpaper can increase battery life this is because pixels that make the AMOLED displays only utilize battery power to illuminate light colors and don’t need any energy to show black color. Simply put, the more dark or black pixels you have on your AMOLED display, the less power it consumes to illuminate them, thus saving the battery.

However, if you have an LCD display, the most power-efficient option is a white wallpaper because the screen doesn’t have to work to create the pixels. So, the benefit of having a white background on an LCD display is not as significant as the benefit of having a black background on an AMOLED display. If you’re not sure which you have, it won’t hurt much to err on the side of black.

Dim your display optimizations

Full brightness might be necessary to see those texts under the full light of day, but why are you still running that setup after sunset? Apart from improving battery performance, it reduces the strain on your eyes too. Again, the screen is the biggest enemy of your battery, keeping it off as much as possible is the crux.

Go to Settings>>Display. There you can disable Adaptive Brightness as it continuously drains the battery by monitoring the ambient light. But if you are not used to changing your display brightness every time you step indoors, keeping adaptive brightness or auto brightness depending on which version of Android you are running would, in fact, help you increase battery life.

Set your “Sleep” length to be as short as is feasible. Set the Sleep option to one minute or 15 seconds is a good amount. This reduces the time the screen remains ON after you’ve stopped using it. Use a dark wallpaper, and a dark theme or night mode if possible. Many apps also have night mode option in them.

Never use live wallpapers though it looks great on display units, in everyday life, these gorgeous backgrounds take processing power to animate. So don’t fall for such eye-catching displays instead stick with something more power-friendly.

Doze Mode (Android Marshmallow)

Doze mode is the latest addition to Android OS and works on the device running Android 6.0 Marshmallow. You don’t need to do anything to use the new doze feature and basically, there are no switches or settings to activate or deactivate it.

Doze mode essentially just shuts down things you’re not using depending on how long it has been since you’ve touched your phone. Network connection is severed and syncing only happens during specific intervals. When you’re away from your phone even longer, more things are stopped, like GPS, Wi-Fi scanning and all syncing. Thus, Doze mode works in the background of Marshmallow devices and puts your phone in hibernation mode when it lies unused for a longer duration.

Turn off Google hotword detection

Stop your phone from always listening. Google Assistant is an awesome service, but its voice recognition feature can continuously keep listening for the ‘OK Google’ keyword detection and hence drains your battery at an alarming rate. Especially if you don’t actually use it or only use it occasionally. So turning off Google’s hotword detection will prevent your phone from being always ready to listening for a command to perform a search function. Here is how you can turn it off.

Go to Apps > Settings > Google Services > Search & Now > Voice > Click on ‘OK Google Detection’ > Turn Off ‘Always On’.

Use Battery Saver

Go to Settings > Battery and then tap the three-dot menu in the top right of the screen. Choose “Battery Saver”.

Battery saver reduces your device’s performance and automatically limits vibration, location services, and background data. You can activate it from here, or you can set it to kick on automatically at 5 or 15 percent battery.

Customize which apps can use location

Most of the apps that are installed on your smartphone constantly track your location. But keeping it on throughout the day while you don’t need location tracking will simply kill your smartphone battery.

Turn it off while you are just using your handset for watching videos, sending emails and apps where you don’t need location tracking.

Use Greenify

Unlike many Android apps that claim to optimize performance and increase battery life, Greenify actually works. Greenify saves your battery life by pushing apps into a sort of ‘hibernation’ mode. Not only it stops an app from running in the background, but it also prevents it from starting until you open it again. Just select the apps you want to hibernate and notice an increase in your battery life and performance.

This can be helpful in many situations. For example, you might use the Amazon app to browse for things to buy, but don’t want it to operate in the background or send notifications. There might be other apps on your Android device operating in the background without a good reason. Greenify stops this by sending those apps into hibernation, which reduces their impact on the system, saving battery life while improving performance.

Get a better battery

Modular batteries used to be the norm for Android devices, but now they’re the smartphone equivalent of the Black Rhino or the Hawksbill Turtle. If you’ve managed to get your hands on one of these endangered species, then you may have the option to upgrade your battery to a higher capacity model.

Conclusion

However to keep your battery life long is completely in your hand at least by dim your screen and turn off services you aren’t using can also give you a better performance of your battery life.

Maximizing your battery life is a simple matter of minimizing your power usage. As you can see, your Android smartphone has a lot of components that touch on power use. Optimizing these can range from simply changing the way that you use your device on a daily basis to fully automating connectivity toggles.

Use these tricks & tips to make your Android battery last longer and to avoid carrying a power bank all the time. I hope these ways to increase Android battery life have been useful to you.
